Students in Grade 11 receive approximately 150 minutes of instruction divided over two 75-minute lessons. Information is presented using a combination of class discussion, scientific diagrams, written information, interactive activities, and short video clips. If a student misses any lessons or parents/caregivers have opted to deliver the content through alternative means, please see the Parent Information Letter and the At-Home Learning Document linked below.

Lesson 1:
Students participate in an icebreaker activity to activate prior knowledge of the many topics covered over the years in SHEP. Students receive one final lesson on healthy relationships and what qualities they would want in a partner to promote a successful relationship. Students are also asked to consider which of these qualities they possess and how these traits may impact a relationship. Components of good sexual consent underscore this activity.
Lesson 2:
Stations are provided around the room containing a poster and supporting materials. Station topics include penis/testicular health, long-acting reversible contraception, short-acting reversible contraception, STIs, reproductive anatomy and body science, and pregnancy prevention/options. Students circulate while having small group discussion with classmates. Knowledge is tested using an interactive game at the end of class.
Anonymous questions: Students ask questions about topics they are still unclear about or curious about. Students do not need to ask questions but can make a comment instead. The teacher uses their professional experience to answer questions in an age-appropriate manner from a health and safety based perspective. Students are encouraged to continue these conversations at home with caregivers.
