Each week, your child will practice writing a few words.
On Fridays, the children's big buddies will 'test' them on their words. If your child does well, he or she will get some new words the following week. Some high-frequency words will also repeat from week to week.
If a student has trouble with this or her words on the Friday 'test', he or she will simply continue to practice the same words the following week. This tailors spelling work to each individual child.
It should not be necessary for your child to practice their spelling words at home, because they practice each day in class. If your child wants to practice spelling words at home, or if you think it would be beneficial, you are more than welcome to have your child spend a few minutes a day on spelling words. Please keep it light and FUN.
