Objectives of Outdoor Education 9
OE9 is offered with the expectations of students to be successful at:
1) use map and compass to be able to find geographical markers and orientation controls to help them find their way.
2) use and maintain outdoor ed. equipment safely (stoves, tents and water filters).
3) demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and trustful behaviour in small and large group settings sometimes away from immediate and direct supervision.
4) demonstrate proficiency in basic outdoor survival techniques.
5) demonstrate a knowledge of basic wilderness first aid and safe use of water in the outdoor environment.
Included in OE9 is a P.E. component. To be concise, OE9 students will be expected to:
1) Participate fully in all PE units.
2) Wear appropriate PE clothing at all times..
3) Demonstrate a willingness to improve their fitness level from September to June .
