SD23 ONLINE SAFETY Courses
SD23 offers seven online safety courses including WHMIS. These courses are self paced and can be accessed anywhere at anytime. They combine audio, video, worksheets, images, and text to help employers and employees successfully meet the requirements of Part 135 of the Workersβ Compensation Act for Safety Committee educational leave.
The courses are offered for $10 per course:
WHMIS 2015 Training aims at providing participants with the generalized information on how to identify workplace chemicals and using the Material Safety Data Sheets. If a worker has not previously take WHMIS 1988, a link included in the training program gives access to that course as well.
New Worker Safety Orientation Training gives new workers health and safety orientation specific to their workplace. SD23 employees should use the SD23 specific course provided on the website.
Bullying and Harassment Training aims at training both workers and supervisors on workplace bullying and harassment, as required by WorkSafeBC policy.
Asbestos Awareness aims at preparing district staff to be safe when working in an environment that may include asbestos. SD23 employees should use the SD23 specific course provided on the website.
Joint Health &Safety Committee Training aims at helping participants to identify and interpret joint health and safety committee members' functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety
Supervisor Safety Management aims at helping supervisors to exercise due diligence and to carry out their responsibilities for creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Preventing Workplace Violence aims at providing employers and workers with tools to reduce workplace violence, which has increasingly become a concern within a number of occupational sectors.
These Health and Safety Courses have been designed to help you and your organization learn the importance and function of health and safety in the workplace. Our courses offer a simple and economical way to improve knowledge and awareness of principles and procedures. The courses are all individual, you may take as many as you want or as required by your employer. Purchase your course, pass the final exam at the end of each course and a certificate is provided when you click on "Certificate Request". If you are an SD23 employee, there is no fee charged for each certificate. If you are a school district employee other than SD23, please check with your employer as you will need an enrolment key provided when "seats" were purchased on your behalf.
