As another summer beckons and the school year draws to a close, it is time to say thank you to everyone at School District No. 23.  It has been a year of significant accomplishments including an improved Dogwood graduation rate, the widest selection of career programs in history, and very encouraging progress among our Aboriginal students.  The list of accomplishments within all levels and departments is far more than we could list here and all are valuable elements in our organization.  School District No. 23 remains one of the most progressive Districts in the province.  This year, we set out with the objective of “going deeper with purpose” and we achieved it!

This has also been a productive year at School District No. 23.  The team in the Operations department successfully completed the Mount Boucherie Secondary addition, planned and started work on Chute Lake Elementary, and are nearing completion on the new Dr. Knox Middle School.  The Transportation department did extensive research on green technologies and unveiled the first hybrid school bus in Canada.  Congratulations also to the administrators and school staff who implemented new programs, testing and Ministry requirements and still found time to give students the time and attention they require.  Thank you to the partner groups – COPAC, COTA and CUPE – your contributions and teamwork add to our ever-improving level of public education.

We hope that all of you enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating summer holiday.  Congratulations to those who are retiring or leaving the District to pursue other opportunities.  We appreciate your contributions and will miss you in the coming school year.

Thank you for a job well done!
