August 25, 2008 Welcome back to another school year—one which we hope will be memorable and positive both professionally and personally. Education is a field that is intrinsically challenging but at School District No. 23, we consistently rise to the challenges. After all, our efforts significantly impact the lives of young people in our community. By working together, we continue to give students solid foundations for their futures. In the 2007/2008 school year, our District received the best review in the province and students achieved a record graduation rate of approximately 82%. These major accomplishments were only made possible through the concerted efforts of everyone involved in our District. Although this may be a tough act to follow, we are confident that this year will be one of new heights for staff and our more than 21,000 students. We plan to continue offering the best possible educational programs and professional development opportunities. We will also expand our offerings with early learning centres, which give pre-school children a head-start on lifelong learning. New schools are opening or under construction to evolve along with the community. Thank you for being a part of one of Canada’s most progressive school districts. |
