Board of Education Trustee Candidate Meeting
KELOWNA, BC: The School District No. 23 is holding an informational meeting for people wishing to run as Board of Education Trustee candidates. The meeting will take place on October 6, 2008 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Hollywood Road Education Services at 1040 Hollywood Road (Room #2) in Kelowna.
The meeting is an opportunity to discover the roles and responsibilities of Trustees and Boards of Education. Candidates will also be provided with details of the District’s various committees, Mission and Vision, Goals and Focus, Strategic Plan, an External Review completed in January 2008, Superintendent’s Reports, and the BC Ministry of Education’s regulations governing school trustee elections.
The Trustee nomination period began on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 9:00 am and ends on Friday October 10, 2008 at 4:00 pm. Nomination papers may be picked up at local municipal or regional district offices.
The next local government election including the election of School Trustees for School District No. 23 (Central Okanagan) will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Elections are conducted according to the rules and regulations set out in the Local Government Act, which governs local government elections throughout BC.
