Education Week: Celebrations in the Community

KELOWNA, BC: This year’s Education Week theme “SD23 - Educational Olympians!” captures the spirit of learning and achievement within School District No. 23. 

Education Week is an opportunity to share this vibrant spirit with the community.  From March 9 to 13, students will be displaying their artwork, singing, dancing, acting, showcasing athletic ability, creating feats of engineering, and more.  The following is a list of events and displays taking place throughout the Central Okanagan: 

KEYNOTE EVENTS:

Monday, March 9:      Kelowna Art Gallery opening event “Art in Action” at 7:00 pm

Tuesday, March 10:    Education Week Breakfast (by invitation only)

Tuesday, March 10:    Kelowna Community Theatre presentation by author David Bouchard, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

ROTARY CENTRE FOR THE ARTS:

Noon hour performances will take place during Education Week as follows:

  • Monday, March 9 – Jazz Combo and Choir Workshop Performance at 12:15 pm
  • Wednesday, March 11 – Casorso Elementary School Choir at 12:30 – 1:00 pm
  • Thursday, March 12 – Constable Neil Bruce Middle School Music Magic Choir at 12:00 – 12:30 pm
  • Friday, March 13 – Rutland Senior Secondary School Drama Class:  Monologues at 12:15 pm

 STUDENT ARTWORK DISPLAYS:

  • Kelowna Art Gallery
  • The Rotary Centre for the Arts
  • Peachland City Hall
  • Lake Country City Hall
  • Lake Country Chamber of Commerce

  • Chief Tomat Elementary Open House 1:30-2:30 pm
  • Hudson Road Elementary – Hockey Day
  • Kelowna Art Gallery – Middle and Secondary Students “Art in Action” Opening Reception at 7:00 pm
  • North Glenmore Elementary – Eco Center Fear Factor at 9:00-10:00 am and Ready, Set, Learn Event at 4:00-5:30 pm

  • Springvalley Middle & Springvalley Elementary – Open House: Tours/Artwork & Unveiling Ceremony of SVM & SVE Educational Olympian Mural at 11:00 am-1:00 pm at SVM
